Where 10% of our profit goes: trees and clean water
Ten percent of every Returnolio profit goes to reforestation and clean-water work, as a standing pledge rather than a campaign. Slow, patient causes, picked to match the horizon we ask our readers to invest on.

Ten percent of every Returnolio profit goes to causes that compound long after the trades close. Subscriptions are the only revenue (the plans are public), so every part of the pledge starts with a subscriber. It is a standing pledge, not a marketing campaign, and this page is where we account for it.
Why these causes
We invest with a five-year-plus horizon, and we wanted the giving to work the same way. Planting trees and protecting water are slow, patient bets that pay off over decades. A tree planted this year does its best work in twenty. That matches how we think about capital better than any one-off donation drive could.
Our focus areas:
- Reforestation - planting and protecting forests.
- Clean water - access and quality projects.
- Watershed care - keeping the systems that feed rivers and lakes healthy.
How the pledge works
- The pledge is 10% of profit, every month there is one. Profit, not revenue: in months where the business runs at a loss, nothing is donated, and nothing is "made up" later with creative accounting.
- We pick established, verifiable organisations that publish their own results. No pass-through funds we cannot trace.
- Every donation lands on this page: the organisation, the amount and the date.
Donations so far
Nothing yet. Returnolio hasn't launched, so there is no profit to give away and no ledger to show. The first month that ends in profit is the month this section starts filling up, with the organisation, the amount and the date for every donation. We're not putting a date on that, because we don't know it.
