Refunds, cancelling, and why there is no free trial

Cancelling is self-serve and instant in the Paddle portal; a refund is a separate request you have to make through support. There is no free trial because the Free tier is the evaluation path instead.

There is no free trial of the paid plans. The Free tier is the evaluation path instead: sign up on Free, look around the data, read a past Top 10 edition, and read the whole methodology. You can judge whether the approach is sound before any money changes hands. When you pick a paid plan (Core, Analyst or Pro), it begins, and is billed, from day one.

That matters here, because it's the reason a refund should be rare. If you haven't spent time on Free yet, do that first.

Cancelling is not the same as a refund

Two different things, two different routes.

  • Cancel your subscription. Self-serve and instant. Open the Avatar menu in the app, pick Subscription, and cancel in the Paddle customer portal. Nothing to ask us for. You keep access until the end of the billing period you already paid for, and the next renewal doesn't happen.
  • Request a refund. Not automatic. You have to ask, through support or the Help & Support form in the app, and we look at it.

The refund window

Beyond any statutory rights you have under consumer-protection law, which always apply and which we don't try to sign away, refunds are at our discretion. Two cases where we say up front what we do:

  • New Core subscribers have a 7-day window on their first paid month. Ask within 7 days of that first charge. This one is Core only; Analyst and Pro don't carry it.
  • Annual plans are refunded pro-rated (you get back the unused part of the year) for cancellation requests we receive within 30 days of the annual charge.
  • Outside those two cases, we don't issue prorated refunds. Cancelling stops the next renewal and your access runs to the end of the paid period.

Wherever mandatory consumer-protection law gives you a statutory right of withdrawal, that right applies and overrides anything narrower on this page. The binding wording lives in our Terms of Service.

How to ask

Open support, or Help & Support in the app, and choose the Billing category. Include the Paddle transaction number from your receipt and one line on what happened. That's the whole process.

Cases we always look at individually

  • You were charged twice (a Paddle duplicate). We refund the duplicate.
  • A clear technical bug blocked your use of the tier you paid for and we couldn't fix it in reasonable time.
  • A charge landed after you believed cancellation had gone through.

These are judged case by case, at our discretion. They aren't a standing policy beyond what's listed above.
