# Returnolio > Returnolio is a stock research publisher. The Monthly Top 10 is a real > portfolio of ten companies we manage in full transparency, written up each > month with the thesis, the risks and every change. We score just under a thousand companies on > quality, RTEP (our own economic-profit measure), value, momentum and insider > activity, and show every input behind a score; how they combine is ours. > Returnolio is a financial publisher, not an investment adviser. ## What Returnolio is - An equity research, stock-scoring and portfolio-tracking web app for long-term, fundamentals-driven investors holding 10-30 names. - Coverage: a little under a thousand companies across 11 sectors. The large majority are US listed, with the rest spread across Canada, the UK, Europe and Asia. The universe is deliberately small: a ranking only means something if every company in it was measured the same way. - End-of-day by design. No intra-day data, no trading, no order routing. - Live and open to subscribers. Free, Core, Analyst and Pro plans. ## The Returnolio score One 0-100 headline per company, comparable across the whole universe, built from five pillars. Every input behind the score is shown on the company's page. - **Quality** - profitability, balance-sheet strength and whether both are improving or decaying. - **Economic profit (RTEP, Returnolio True Economic Profit)** - our own measure. It charges every business its own cost of capital rather than a house rate, treats research and development as an asset instead of an expense, and normalises for buybacks and dilution. The question it answers: after paying for every dollar of capital the business uses, at what that capital actually costs, is there anything left? - **Value (margin of safety)** - price against a fair value built from up to four independent methods, plus history and sector. - **Momentum** - price momentum, risk-adjusted return, secular trend and the earnings-surprise record. - **Smart money** - insider buying and selling, congressional trades and institutional flow. How the five combine into one number is the part Returnolio keeps to itself. The pillars, the inputs and every underlying value are published; the blend, the fair-value method-selection rule and the monthly re-ranking cut-off are not. This is deliberate and stated openly on the methodology pages. ## The Monthly Top 10 Each month Returnolio publishes its ten highest-conviction names as the team's own actual portfolio: bought at equal weight and left to run, reviewed monthly, no borrowed money, with the thesis, the risks and the data behind each name. Changes to the holdings are disclosed with the monthly edition, after the fact - a record of what was done and why, not a queue of what to do next. Past editions stay published. ## Methodology and validation The method was tested on thirteen years of point-in-time historical data, 2013 to September 2026, with every earnings figure dated to the day it actually reached the SEC. 12,038 filing dates were pulled from EDGAR so the model never sees a number before the market did. There are no manual overrides in the test. The full record is published, year by year: the model finished ahead of the passive blend in nine of the thirteen calendar years. Every figure carries its measurement date because data corrections move it. The published Top 10 adds a review step the test does not have: a person reads every name with the filings open before the list goes out, because a scoring model cannot see an officer leaving or a price that already contains next quarter's news. Single years are noisy. These are backtested results on historical data, not live returns; no capital was invested during the test period, and past performance is not a guarantee of future results. The year-by-year figures and the limitations are at https://returnolio.com/docs/methodology/backtest. ## Key features Market Overview, Universe screener with filters, Monthly Top 10 (including the Moonshot Detector sub-model), Compare up to three stocks, Smart Money (insider, congressional and 13F flow), an events and earnings calendar, alerts, and My Portfolio. An MCP server (https://mcp.returnolio.com/mcp) lets Claude and other MCP clients query the scores directly. It is available on every tier including the free one, read-only, and it answers with exactly the data that tier already includes - the free connector is a taster, not a way around the plans. ## Business model Subscriptions are the only revenue. Returnolio does not run a fund, does not take performance fees, does not manage user money and does not sell attention. ## Important Returnolio publishes research and the real portfolio it manages. It is not personalised investment advice, and nothing on the site is a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Readers should do their own due diligence. ## Links - [Homepage](https://returnolio.com/): what Returnolio is, in one screen. - [Pricing](https://returnolio.com/pricing): the four plans and what each one includes. - [Methodology and docs](https://returnolio.com/docs): every page that explains how the numbers are made. - [How the score is built](https://returnolio.com/docs/methodology/returnolio-score): one 0 to 100 headline per company, the five pillars behind it, and what one number cannot tell you. - [RTEP: economic profit](https://returnolio.com/docs/methodology/rtep-score): why accounting profit can lie, the cost of capital in plain words, and R&D as an investment, on Xcel Energy and Costco. - [Economic profit vs net income](https://returnolio.com/docs/methodology/economic-profit-vs-net-income): how a company reports a profit every year and still loses value. - [Quality score](https://returnolio.com/docs/methodology/quality-score): how a good business is told apart from a merely profitable one. - [Margin of safety](https://returnolio.com/docs/methodology/value-mos): whether the price is reasonable for the growth being bought. - [Fair value](https://returnolio.com/docs/methodology/fair-value): the four valuation methods and how they are blended. - [Momentum](https://returnolio.com/docs/methodology/momentum-score): price and earnings trend measured across several windows. - [Smart money](https://returnolio.com/docs/methodology/smart-money): insider, congressional and institutional trading. - [The backtest, in full](https://returnolio.com/docs/methodology/backtest): thirteen point-in-time years, and the limits we name. - [How the Top 10 is chosen](https://returnolio.com/docs/methodology/top-10-selection): the rules that turn a ranking into ten holdings. - [What we cover](https://returnolio.com/docs/data/coverage): the universe, sector by sector. - [Every published figure, with its source](https://returnolio.com/docs/data/by-the-numbers) - [FAQ](https://returnolio.com/#faq): the questions buyers actually ask. - [Blog](https://returnolio.com/blog): what the research turns up, written for people. ## For machines - [Every documentation page in one file](https://returnolio.com/llms-full.txt) - [Any documentation page as plain Markdown](https://returnolio.com/docs/methodology/backtest.md): append .md to any docs URL. - [Blog feed](https://returnolio.com/feed.xml) - [MCP server](https://mcp.returnolio.com/mcp): query the scores directly from Claude or any MCP client. - [Sitemap](https://returnolio.com/sitemap.xml)
